Alexander Campos

Bio

From 2004- 2018, Alexander Campos led Center for Book Arts as Executive Director and Curator. During his tenure at CBA he organized numerous major exhibitions and oversaw the expansion of CBA’s Visual Arts Program. Mr. Campos’ education includes an MA from New York University’s School of Education in Arts Administration and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania, where he majored in the History of Art. He has served on several advisory commissions and review panels, including the New York State Council on the Arts, IMLS, the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism.

Alexander Campos’ dedicated work for CBA included:

 

  • Leading a multi-year renovation of Center for Book Arts 27th street loft
  • Engaging new audiences and artists by promoting innovative artistic programming, that expanded the discourse surrounding book arts within the contemporary art world
  • Growing CBA’s Collections by establishing a cataloguing initiative and and policy to enter’s holdings of artist books and reference materials
  • Enhancing literary programming with the inclusion of Poet Laureates
  • Supporting and mentoring the next generation of diverse artists through the Center’s residency programs
